On April 16th, the Twelve WorkOne Regions gathered at the Statehouse in Indianapolis for our annual WorkOne Achievement Award ceremony.  Each Region honored an outstanding individual and outstanding employer for their successful use of WorkOne Services.

This year the event had a special surprise speaker as the Governor stopped by to congratulate the winners and to encourage the continued success of WorkOne in assisting Hoosiers.

This year, Region 7 honored Phoenix Closures of Greencastle as our outstanding individual.

Phoenix Closures is a full-service manufacturing firm specializing in injection-molded closures.  In 2011, Phoenix purchased an abandoned automotive manufacturing facility in Greencastle and retooled the entire site for the production of food-grade packaging.  During this process, Bill Dory of the Greencastle/Putnam County Economic Development Council introduced Phoenix to WorkOne.  As the building underwent an extensive renovation, WorkOne was able to offer Phoenix the use of office space to conduct the important tasks needed to get the plant staffed and up and running.  Phoenix was able to use IndianaCareerConnect.com to post their open positions, WorkOne office space for pre-employment testing using Workkeys, interviews and the first round of new hire orientation training.  They also qualified for and utilized the On-the-Job (OJT) Training Grant.

Since then, Phoenix has hired more than 45 full-time employees in skilled positions such as Injection Molding Technicians, Maintenance Technicians, Material Handlers and Management Positions.

Phoenix Closures is a company that places a high value on selecting the right employees and providing them with a positive work environment.  They will continue to use WorkOne hiring services as they add additional equipment and personnel to their facility.
