INDIANAPOLIS- Duke Energy, located in Terre Haute, received a WorkOne Achievement Award for partnering with WorkOne to create employment opportunities for local Hoosiers. The award was presented today in a ceremony at the Indiana Statehouse.

Duke Energy is the largest electric power holding company in the United States, supplying and delivering energy to approximately 7.3 million U.S. customers. Recently, Duke partnered with WorkOne to utilize IndianaCareerConnect.com, Indiana’s largest online job bank, as well as the WorkKeys applicant skills testing system to create a new process to recruit linemen for their apprenticeship program throughout the state. As a result of this collaboration, WorkOne was able to provide a number of qualified candidates for the program.

“Duke Energy is committed to developing the workforce in their community,” said Steven J. Braun, Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. “Their dedication to workforce development with WorkOne has definitely paid off over the years.”

The WorkOne Achievement Awards are awarded by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development to 12 individuals for their outstanding accomplishments while participating in the workforce development system. Twelve awards were also presented to employers who partner with WorkOne for their contribution to growing Indiana’s economy and commitment to their community. All of today’s recipients were nominated for the award by their local WorkOne center.
