2017 Partner Conference

On Friday December 1st, Vincennes University as our Region's One Stop Operator, planned and hosted the annual Partner Conference at the MCL Banquet Center.  The conference brought together service providers from our region to discuss recent updates and to network.

Workforce Development Board Executive Director Lisa Lee started the program by welcoming everyone and introducing our first guest speaker for the day, Indiana State Senator Jon Ford who represents Indiana District 38.  Senator Ford provided updates to the Governor's Workforce Plan.

The group then heard updates from:

  • Rod Dowell - Ivy Tech and the Next Level Jobs program
  • Cindy Lydick - WorkOne services
  • Lora Rivera - Vocational Rehabilitation Services in our Region
  • Representatives from all of the Adult Education providers in our region

After lunch the group welcomed United Way Executive Director Richard Payonk. Richard provided a great talk about how United Way is evolving as an organization and how they are adapting their model to continue to provide resources to help solve problems in our community.

Nichelle Washington of the Hamilton Center gave an update to their programs and then introduced, Jessica Nevill as the final speaker of the day.  Jessica gave a presentation and discussion about the importance of managing change.  As organizations, we are all faced with change.  And as leaders, how we help our staff adapt to change is a key component of our continued success.  Jessica provided many examples and a lot of good ideas were shared.

Thank you to all who participated in this year's conference!
