WorkIn Award Winner

On August 16th, representatives of the WorkOne regions met in Indianapolis to discuss the WorkIN program.

As part of the program, each Region honored an outstanding individual who utilized the WorkIN program.

The honoree for Region 7 is Breanna McKain

Breanna was a single parent with no job and no financial resources to attain her GED.  She also wanted to earn her Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) license in hopes that it would help her in her goal of going into nursing.  Now, she has earn both her GED and her CNA and is working full-time at a health and rehab center in Terre Haute.  Breanna is planning on continuing her education in the near future.

New GED Test in 2014

Did you know the current version of the GED test will expire at the end of this year and Indiana will have a new high school equivalency test beginning in 2014? Your scores will expire too if you don’t finish and pass the test before the end of the year. If you have questions about how this will affect you or would like more information about Adult Education classes and other FREE programs, visit www.in.gov/dwd/adulted.htm.

WorkOne Assists With Job Fair

On May 30th WorkOne partnered with 8th District Congressman Larry Bucshon to host a job fair at the Hulman Center in Terre Haute.

The job fair took place from 2 pm until 6 pm. 

The event was a great success as approximately 1000 job seekers were able to meet with over 60 area employers.

2013 WorkOne Achievement Awards-Outstanding Individual

On April 16th, the Twelve WorkOne Regions gathered at the Statehouse in Indianapolis for our annual WorkOne Achievement Award ceremony.  Each Region honored an outstanding individual and outstanding employer for their successful use of WorkOne Services.  

This year the event had a special surprise speaker as the Governor stopped by to congratulate the winners and to encourage the continued success of WorkOne in assisting Hoosiers.  Click here to view images from the event

2013 Veteran's Expo

On March 12th, WorkOne participated as one of over 50 exhibitors at the Vigo County Veteran's Expo.  The Expo provided the opportunity for local Veterans to meet with various service providers and employers.

Air National Guard Employment Fair

On December 1st, WorkOne partnered with the 181st Intelligence Wing of the Indiana Air National Guard to conduct an Employment Fair for guard members and their families.

The event was well attended and featured several local employers.  

It was a great opportunity for these employers to meet with job ready members of the Air National Guard.
