This is a large handcrafted sterling silver pendant with a black diopside gemstone cat's eye cabochon. It is bezel set in a sterling silver frame decorated with circular beads. The tear drop cabochon is 24 x 30mm and domed, it is a dark gray color with bands of gold and nice chatoyancy. The cat's eye effect, is caused by inclusions of fine, slender parallel mineral fibers in the gemstone that reflect light in a single band. Wearing cat's eye is believed to help ward off evil and acts as a talisman to protect against danger. The pendant has a large bail on the top that can easily slip on a cord, chain or necklace and is in excellent condition.
