The wingspan of the Paradise Phoenix (scientific name: papilio ulysses) can reach 105 mm. the fore and hind wings are pure blue from the basal angle to about 1/2~2/3 of the (anterior) posterior edge, and black from the (terminal) posterior angle to 1/3~1/2 of the (anterior) posterior edge. the hind wings have a black caudal process. The dorsal surface of the wings is brownish.

It inhabits the tropical continent and migrates seasonally in search of food and warmth. The hosts are mostly dogwood or Melicope plants, and the larvae also eat other plants in the Brassicaceae family.
