In this series kids will join the crew of the USS Everfind, with the mission to find what has been lost. Their latest assignment is to determine the whereabouts of the lost cruise ship, Seablunder, and her passengers. Along the way, kids will learn that God has a passion for finding lost people and bringing them back to Him.
_______
“The Son of Man came to look for the lost and save them.” Luke 19:10 (NIRV)
Lost at Sea
Scripture: Jonah 1 and 2, Jonah Runs and Jonah in the Fish
The Seablunder is lost at sea, but the crew of the USS Everfind never loses hope. Jonah had several opportunities to lose hope – first on a ship in the storm and then in the belly of a whale – but he knew that with God there is always a reason to have hope.
Objective: Kids will learn that “God always gives me a reason to hope.”
Finding the Wreckage
Scripture: Matthew 8:23-27, Jesus Calms the Storm
The Seablunder has been found – sunken at the bottom of the ocean – reminding the crew of the USS Everfind that sometimes ships sink. Fortunately all the lifeboats and passengers still seem to be missing. The ship seemed to be sinking too when the disciples encountered a storm on the water. But with a word, Jesus was able to stop the storm and keep his disciples safe.
Objective: Kids will learn that “God can protect me from any storm in this life.”
Underwater Exploration
Scripture: Ephesians 6:10-18, The Armor of God
The crew of the USS Everfind needs to put on the right gear – wetsuits, scuba gear, etc. – to go exploring the depths underwater. Those who God has found – those who follow Jesus – must put on the right gear too: The Armor of God. Clothing ourselves in God's strength, we can go out and face anything.
Objective: Kids will learn that “God is the source of my strength.”
Island Rescue
Scripture: Luke 15:11-32, The Parable of the Lost Son
The passengers of the Seablunder have been found on a remote island – all of them healthy and accounted for! Without Jesus, all of us are lost. But Jesus came to seek and save the lost. Jesus died for our sins and rose again in power so that we could be found and could live forever with Him.
Objective: Kids will learn that “God sent Jesus to find us when we were lost.”
Finding Treasure
Scripture: Luke 19:1-10, Zacchaeus
The passengers of the Seablunder are so grateful for being saved, they have told the crew of the USS Everfind they can keep whatever they find. The underwater exploration of the Seablunder has turned up real treasures: gold, silver, and expensive jewelry. Zacchaeus spent his life amassing great treasure for himself – even taking money from people when he shouldn't have. But he gave it all away when he met his Savior: Jesus.
Objective: Kids will learn that “Knowing Jesus is worth more than anything.”
