An elegant Southern icon, the magnolia is one of Melissa's favorite flowers. Unlike many flowering trees, magnolias slowly release their snowy white blooms several at a time, rather than all at once, giving a longer blooming season. This painting was inspired by the first bloom of the season on the tree outside Melissa's home studio.
