Handsome Chinese Ivory Dragon or Serpent Carved Brooch. This unique pin was carved from one piece of ivory and has a raised center with intertwined dragons. They are surrounded with a bone frame that has a very intricately carved out border. One of the dragons has two black eyes.

The Chinese say that to be born in the year of the Dragon is very good luck! The dragon is the imperial emblem of the Emperors in China, especially from the from the Han period where their coat of arms shows two dragons fighting for the fiery pearl. The dragon is a supernatural creature and is the symbol of power, strength, wisdom and goodness. It represents the utmost in accomplishment: good luck and a successful life.
