Designed for superior image quality
By incorporating an XGM (eXpanded Glass Molded Aspherical) lens element, as well as multiple LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements, the distortion and lateral chromatic aberrations so common in wide-angle shooting have been greatly minimised.

Premium lens coating
A newly developed AX (Anti-reflection eXpand) Coating has been applied to reduce ghosting and flare more thoroughly than ever before. The front element now uses an advanced version of Tamron’s Fluorine coating to offer better protection that its predecessor from dirt, dust and moisture. Coupled with Tamron’s Moisture Resistant Construction this gives both professional photographers and enthusiasts peace of mind especially when shooting outdoors in less than perfect conditions.
