Instructions:

1.   Placement:

o    Place the heat pad under one side of the whelping box, allowing the mother and puppies to choose her preferred temperature.

o    Ensure the pad is secured to prevent movement.

2.   Temperature Settings:

o    Start on a low setting. Adjust as needed based on the comfort of the mother and her puppies.

o    Ideal temperature range: 85°F to 90°F (29°C to 32°C) for the first few days.

3.   Monitoring:

o    Regularly check the pad and the temperature.

o    Observe the mother and puppies for signs of overheating or discomfort.

4.   Safety Checks:

o    Inspect the pad daily for wear, damage, or exposed wires.

o    Ensure there is no risk of chewing or entanglement.

• Avoid Direct Contact: Do not place the heat pad directly under the puppies; provide a barrier like an EZwhelp whelping pad or blanket.
• Supervision Required: Never leave the mother and puppies unattended with the heat pad on.

Signs of Overheating:

• Excessive panting
• Restlessness
• Puppies moving away from the heat source
