By listening to the sea creatures, he learns important lessons about conservation and good fishing practices. He returns home to share his experiences with his kupuna kāne (grandfather), who, to the surprise of the mo‘opuna (grandchild), already know these important lessons. The story urges us to pay attention to the natural environment and take only what we need.
