Dr. Phil Barnes, an educator for thirty years, taught Hawaiian Studies courses for over
ten years. His background includes degrees in both biology and history. He is a past chair of the Moku Loa group the Sierra Club and served on the executive board for almost ten years. He is a member of Hawaiian Historical Society. He and his wife, Diane, make their home in Hilo on the Island of Hawaiʻi.
