Background of Saya

Saya Otonashi is the main character in the anime series Blood+. Saya was born as one of the Queens of the Chiropterans, a vampire bat-like species that feasts upon human blood. Despite being this species, Saya dedicates her life to eliminating Chiropterans, including her sister Diva, the other Chiropteran queen.

Saya wields a samurai sword with the blade being slightly curved near the guard, almost in the shape of a 'S'. The sword is specially designed this way so Saya can cut her thumb and spread her blood throughout the entire blade. Once the blade is imbued with her blood, Saya can use this weapon to wipe out any Chiropterans that stand in her way.

Our masterfully crafted real sword is inspired by Saya's sword, including the carbon steel blade (toshin) and its iconic shape. This metal replica of the Saya sword is 113 cm (44 in) long and comes with a wooden sheath (saya). The sickle-shape of this sword classifies it as a khopesh. The blade is blunted and an ideal home decoration or cosplay photoshoot accessory.
