Vazart Coquart Terracotta 2018

TC stands for Terracotta – and with this cuvée, Vazart-Coquart explores how natural clay vessels can enhance the purity and texture of Grand Cru Chardonnay. Made entirely from grapes grown in Chouilly, this 2018 Blanc de Blancs was fermented and/or aged in an egg-shaped terracotta amphora, a rare and innovative approach in Champagne.

The egg shape and porous clay create a gentle micro-oxygenation and constant internal motion, resulting in a wine that is both texturally rich and vibrantly precise. TC 2018 was aged for over 54 months on the lees before disgorgement in November 2023, allowing for deep complexity and integration.

On the nose, it offers white flowers, citrus peel, a touch of spice, and the signature chalky minerality of Chouilly. The palate is structured and bone-dry, with a linear energy and creamy texture from full malolactic fermentation. A low dosage of 3.5 g/l keeps the wine crisp, fresh, and gastronomic.

Each bottle is individually numbered, and production is extremely limited. This is a collector's champagne – one for those who seek the intersection of tradition and innovation. Best enjoyed in large glasses where its layered texture and mineral character can unfold. Pairs beautifully with oysters, sashimi, or delicate scallop dishes.
